BLC BOOK GROUP PDF Print E-mail

The BLC Book Group will meet on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 PM, presumably in the Lounge.  The book we'll be discussing is The Aviator's Wife, by Melanie Benjamin.  Lynn Millspaugh will lead the discussion.

To tantalize those of you who have not read The Aviator's Wife, it is much more the story of a marriage than of aviation.  It is historical fiction, based on much research, of the marriage of Charles Lindbergh and Ann Morrow.  Lindbergh was already an international hero based on his solo transatlantic flight, and Ann was the young, shy daughter of an ambassador.  As the marriage matures, and being always in the public eye, tragedies and betrayals befall them.  You will learn so much more about the Lindbergh's than you thought you already knew.  It's a fascinating and eye-opening read.

Please come on October 22 for what promises to be a lively discussion.  Bring a friend, too.

But, many of our Bethlehem Lutheran Church neighbors have little with which to celebrate.  The Community Care Team asking for your help in collecting unexpired non-perishable items and Price Chopper gift cards (with receipts attached) in $10 denominations for Thanksgiving gift baskets.  Gift cards may be placed in the offering plate, brought to the BLC office, or a special offering may be made by using the envelopes in the pew and marking them “Price Chopper gift card.”

Food and personal care items needed for baskets include:

stuffing mix

gravy

canned vegetables
canned fruits

sweet potatoes

various canned fruit pie filling and/or pie kits

complete bread & muffin mixes
pancake mix/syrup

coffee, tea and hot chocolate
toilet paper & paper towels

Daily Verse

John 15:5,8
“?I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. This is to my Father?s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
